Lead PHP Laravel Developer – Devon / Hybrid (3 Days Onsite)
Location: Devon (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 per annum

About the Role
Our client, a growing technology-driven business based in Devon, is seeking an experienced Lead PHP Laravel Developer to take a senior leadership role within their development team.


Reporting to the Technical Director, you’ll guide a team of talented developers, oversee end-to-end project delivery, and play a pivotal part in defining the company’s technical roadmap. This is a key role for someone who enjoys a balance of hands-on coding, technical strategy, and team leadership within a collaborative, innovative environment.


The Tech Stack

  • Core languages: PHP (Laravel), JavaScript,
  • Frameworks & tools: Laravel, RESTful APIs, modern testing and CI/CD practices
  • Core systems: NetSuite (ERP), Shopify (e-commerce), Peoplevox (warehouse management)
  • You’ll ensure the technology stack remains robust, secure, and future-ready, while helping to evaluate new tools and practices as the business continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead by example, writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code
  • Mentor and coach developers, fostering growth and technical excellence
  • Scope, plan, and review development projects to ensure quality and timely delivery
  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineer on technical architecture and long-term strategy
  • Work with stakeholders to design solutions that improve business processes
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

About You
  • Strong hands-on experience with PHP and Laravel frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead or mentor a development team
  • Solid understanding of API design and system integration
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strategic thinker with a practical, problem-solving mindset
  • Bonus: Experience with Agile delivery, DevOps, or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
